Meditation Photography
Photography has always been my meditation as it allows me to be much more aware of the present moment, to be aware and interact with what is going on around me. The Camera is the tool that I use to open the door to that state of mind, entering in the zone where the only moment that really matter is Now.
My mind is clear and at the same time sharp, my body is reacting to whatever is happening around me and inside me. As an answer, I move and find what I believe is the right perspective and composition, focusing my attention on the particular fragment of the world in front of me, I raise my camera and I click, forgetting about the expectations and preconceived ideas I had as well as what the outcome image will be, either it’ll be a good result or a failure.
I don’t feel anxious or stressed, I am in the zone, fully enjoying the present moment.
Then I continue, and I click and click again and again…
The old meaning of the word Meditation refers to the training of the mind, to become familiar with a beneficial state, in the same way I am training my vision, my awareness, and get used to look and see the world in a more intense way through my photography.
Looking at my photographs feels good and reaffirms that those moments of light captured are my own moments of clarity.
